The Opportunity
Pace Athletic is building the benchmark specialty running store in Australia.
Our Sydney flagship will set the standard commercially, culturally and experientially, for what modern performance retail looks like.
As Flagship Store Manager, you are the business leader, you own the P&L, lead a high-performing team, drive community strategy, and elevate the technical authority of the brand on the ground.
This is not a traditional retail management role. This is a leadership position with multi-site potential.
The Role
1. Business Ownership
You own the performance of the flagship.
- Deliver and exceed annual sales targets
- Drive AOV, conversion, units per transaction and repeat purchase metrics
- Manage labour investment and controllable costs
- Own quarterly and seasonal trading plans
- Execute inventory strategy in partnership with buying
- Deliver weekly and monthly commercial performance reviews to the Leadership Team
2. Technical Authority & Product Excellence
Pace exists to elevate performance. You ensure the store is the most technically competent running retail environment in Australia.
- Lead advanced footwear education and fit standards
- Ensure excellence in gait analysis and fit consultation
- Develop team mastery across footwear, apparel and accessories
- Protect product integrity through disciplined VM and stock management
- Create a culture of technical credibility
3. Leadership & Talent Development
You build leaders, not just staff.
- Recruit, onboard and develop a team of 6–10
- Build succession pathways within your store
- Lead structured coaching and performance reviews
- Maintain a high-accountability, high-trust culture
- Address performance issues with clarity and integrity
- Foster a collaborative environment
4. Community minded
You are accountable for building and executing a flagship-level community strategy.
- Develop partnerships with local run clubs, schools, physios and gyms
- Drive weekly community touchpoints (events, activations, collaborations)
- Grow database acquisition through community initiatives
- Position the flagship as the hub of running culture in Sydney
- Track and report community impact as a commercial KPI
5. Operational Excellence
You protect the standard.
- Lead floor presence daily, modelling what good looks like
- Maintain elite VM and stockroom discipline
- Execute shipment processing and inventory accuracy
- Manage shrinkage and stock optimisation
- Uphold safety and compliance standards
- Ensure seamless omni-channel execution
