THE OPPORTUNITY
Pace Athletic is Sydney's leading run specialty retailer — built on trust, knowledge, and a genuine love for the sport. We don't just sell shoes; we serve a community of runners.
Our Distribution Centre is the engine room behind every store and every order. As Warehouse Manager, you own the standard of that operation — staying close to the floor, getting ahead of problems before they compound, and holding the team and the standard accountable every day.
This is not a desk role. This is a hands-on leadership position for a doer.
THE ROLE:
1. Operational Ownership
You own the standard of the DC.
- Manage inbound and outbound operations jointly with department managers — close enough to catch issues early
- Make sure things get done, to a high standard, every time
- Stay ahead of the day-to-day, anticipating upcoming demands without losing focus on the daily rhythm
- Keep the team informed and prepared for what's coming
Protect throughput, accuracy and pace across the operation
2. Leadership & Accountability
You hold the team and the standard.
- Work jointly with the Inbound and Outbound Managers, sharing responsibility for outcomes
- Run structured, scheduled check-ins to surface issues, track progress and identify improvements
- Hold the team accountable to the standard, every day
- Lead from the floor — this role is active, not administrative
- Build a culture of ownership and pride in the work
3. Communication & Coordination
You connect the DC to the wider business.
- Communicate clearly across 8 Pace sites
- Report transparently to the Operations & Customer Service Lead
- Manage up well, keeping leadership ahead of the operation
- Surface risks and opportunities before they become problems
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- A Doer: You stay close to the operation and make sure the work gets done. You lead from the front.
- Detail-Driven: You have strong attention to detail and a proactive approach. You catch issues before they compound.
- Systems-Capable: You're comfortable with WMS, Google Workspace and/or Excel, and you use them to run a tighter operation.
- A Clear Communicator: You manage up well, coordinate across sites, and keep everyone ahead of the operation.
- Active-Minded: You have a genuine passion for running or an active lifestyle, and you understand the community we serve.
EXPERIENCE
- DC or warehouse management experience — retail or ecomm a plus
- WMS experience — desirable
- Proven ability to lead a team and hold a standard
- Comfortable working hands-on, on the floor, every day
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS
This is the operational backbone of the business — and the person who owns it well becomes hard to replace.
- You'll have real ownership of a DC that supplies 8 stores and every online order.
- High performers in this role will have a pathway to broader operations leadership as Pace expands its footprint.
- We're not just moving boxes. We're building the operational engine behind the best specialty running retailer in Australia — and you'll be the one who owns it.
