"I finally got around to purchasing my first ever pair of Lone Peak 9+ trail shoes after several years of other brands. I think I expected these zero drop shoes might need some time to accommodate to, but I was pleasantly surprised with their impressive feel, performance and comfort. At 25mm (front to rear) cushioning, they are a lot different to the other brand plush trail shoes I’ve been wearing and I can honestly say that the material Altra has used for the midsole is more than enough for a day on the trail. The Lone Peak 9+ has a superbly supportive, balanced feel, with enough feedback to let you know exactly where your feet are when traversing rocky slopes etc. I’ve had a pervasive supination problem with other shoes but the Lone Peak’s seem to feel much more planted, probably due to the neutral fit, wide footprint of the outsole and the moulding around the rear of the foot. The Vibram grip has been a welcome change from the slippy rubber outsoles of my other brand trail shoes. And that wide toe box is just divine. No more cramped toes, pls ty of room for the toes and forefoot to expand as the km’s increase, plus the outsole doesn’t retain trail gravel or mud like some other well known brands. I wish I had made the change to Altra sooner, they’re probs my the best trail shoes out there for my outdoor needs.
