The ASICS Metaspeed Edge Tokyo is a race-winning favorite among runners, building on the strengths of the previous Paris model with new midsole foams. It’s lighter, softer, and more responsive – performs best when running at faster race speeds.
The top layer consists of lightweight, bouncy FF LEAP™ foam for softer cushioning and energy return. The more resilient FF TURBO™ PLUS gives a firmer, stable landing, preventing your heel from sinking.
Compared to the Metaspeed Sky, the Metapseed EDGE has a softer underfoot cushion, a more significant rocker – making it ideal for 'cadence-style' runners who speed up by taking quicker and more frequent steps.

- A carbon plate enhances the energy return from the midsole. There's more deformable foam under the plate, a wider platform and is positioned higher in the forefoot part.
- New ATPU-based FF LEAP™ cushion is significantly more bouncy, responsive and lighter. It is positioned in the top layer to help provide more cushioning and a higher energy return.
- FF Turbo Plus cushion is extremely lightweight and bouncier than previous FF TURBO™ version. It is positioned in the top layer to offer a more stable landing and more energy return

"I bought these shoes for the Gold Coast marathon. I did a 32km progression run in them on the weekend to test them out. I had nil issues with the shoes and feel they were perfect suited to protect my legs. I haven’t done a specific interval session but the progression run had me doing my last 4km interval at 4:10min/km with the first interval at 4:35min/km. I was tossing up the decision between the edge and sky for Tokyo model for a long time!"

"These shoes are a revelation for marathon training, and the service from Pace Athletic was fantastic—they arrived at my house in just three days. Though a bit snug to put on, they offer excellent lockdown, a lightweight breathable upper, and a surprisingly stable, bouncy midsole that stiffens up perfectly once you’re moving. At 5. 6 oz, they feel like feathers and practically disappear on foot, yet they effortlessly shaved nearly two minutes off my usual easy pace. After testing several race shoes, these are hands-down the ones I’m keeping."
