Drawing from Japan’s incredible long-distance relay running culture, the new ASICS EKIDEN Pack delivers energy that truly moves both body and mind. Experience the spirit of team and tradition in every stride.
The ASICS Metaspeed Sky Tokyo is a race-winning favorite among runners, building on the strengths of the previous Paris model with new midsole foams. It’s lighter, softer, and more responsive and stable – performs best when running at faster race speeds.
The Metaspeed Sky Tokyo is designed to give consistent comfort and performance from 5k right through to the marathon, without being too firm or aggressive. The top layer consists of a more resilient Turbo Plus foam, while the carbon plate adds stability, complemented by a softer, bouncy FF LEAP foam in the bottom.
Compared with the Metaspeed EDGE, the Metaspeed SKY has the carbon plate positioned closer to the foot, and a thicker foam in the forefoot area. It offers a snappier propulsion and lengthens your strides – making it ideal 'stride-style' runners who increase their speed by lengthening their strides.

"Feel fast and surprised at stability"
"Nice bouncy ride, much more cushioned than really any other super shoe I have tried so far. Fit is perfect, maybe a size bigger but I like it. This shoe was purchased from the website. Doesn't seem too durable but that remains to be seen."
"Wore the shoes for the first time today and couldn’t help but notice the left shoe wasn’t “popping” as much as the right after examining the shoe it feels as if the carbon plate is broken? Is there anything that can be done as this is a very expensive shoe!"
"Great customer service"
"Good bounce, very fast, personally more of a shoe I'd race a half or less in. Narrow through the mid foot, something to keep in mind if you have wide feet."
"My previous marathon race shoe was the Metaspeed Edge Paris. So I was keen to try the Sky Tokyo to see if I'd prefer the softer midsole and different carbon plate position. After a few long runs, my conclusion is that the Sky Tokyo has a few flaws. While it is soft and cushioning, I find that it tends to flatten out over long runs. If I had a choice, I'd go back to my Edge Paris as its slightly firmer midsole stayed resilient over long runs. Also, the overall fit, especially the toe box of the the Sky Paris, is sloppy. It's too wide and doesn't really have a race fit. The weight has been reduced by stripping some of the heel counter, but this leads to some heel lift - something I didn't experience in the Edge Paris. If anything, you may want to size down 1/2 a size because of this looser fit. In short, a good race, but not great."
"Race day shoes 10/10"
"Nice bounce. Smooth ride. Good for quicker long runs. Was hoping for more propulsion though."
"Fast and comfy lightweight race day shoe."
"These shoes are great, very fast to run in and very comfortable. I love these shoes. I did a 7km race in them and was 50 seconds faster than the previous race I did in the Puma Fast-R. Asics are now my favorite shoes, farewell Nike, you have dropped the ball."
